ACT II PORTAL

If I sent you this link, you have been formally invited to contribute to the first edition of realinternetuser: a collaborative archive of the people, images, objects, ideas, and questions that have shaped how we understand ourselves and the world.

This publication explores memory, technology, identity, care, and what it means to grow up in the digital era.

The submission portal is located at the bottom of this page.

To introduce you to the project, I’ve included the mockup pages for ACT I, I hope it gives you a sense of the ideas, questions, and feelings that have shaped the magazine so far. I reccomend viewing on a computer to read the text fully, though you can swipe on mobile to view the layout as well.

The Legal Section

Editorial & Visual Citation Policy

realinternetuser documents contemporary internet culture through original works alongside found and historically significant media.

The magazine may reproduce excerpts or images from existing cultural artifacts – including screenshots, advertisements, websites, maps, interfaces, and other publicly circulated media – when they serve an editorial, educational, critical, documentary, or archival purpose.

Whenever reasonably possible, original creators and sources will be credited using the magazine’s visual citation system. These materials are presented to preserve context, encourage critical engagement, and explore how digital media shapes memory, identity, and everyday life. Their inclusion does not imply ownership of the original works.

The goal of this publication is not to replace or exploit original works, but to situate them within a broader conversation about culture, technology, memory, and care.

Contributor Permission

By submitting material to realinternetuser, you confirm that:

– You created the work or have the citation to submit it as appropriated material.

– You grant realinternetuser permission to reproduce, edit, crop, resize, and publish your submission in the magazine, related exhibitions, promotional materials, and future archived editions, in both print and digital formats.

– You retain ownership of your original work unless otherwise agreed in writing.

– Your name, pseudonym, social media handle, or anonymous credit will be used according to your preference.

– Publication is not guaranteed, and submissions may be edited for layout, readability, or length while preserving their original intent.

Visual Citations

To preserve the archive while acknowledging where images come from, visual references will be labeled using a simple citation system.

If you already know where an image came from, feel free to tell me. Otherwise, I’ll research and add the citation during editing.

P.S.

If you’ve made it this far, thank you for reading.

Attention is one of the most valuable things we can give each other today. Taking the time to read this, reflect, and contribute means more than you probably realize.

Whether you send a single screenshot, a poem, a photograph, or simply an idea, your participation helps preserve a small piece of what it feels like to be alive right now.

Thank you for sharing your attention, your memories, and your trust.

With love,

gigi
